Rafter Supported Cone Roof
Purlins as shown in sample photos below are installed for rafter support.
Rafter supported cone roof. From the second floor i have added another 2 framing around on which the roof rafters will sit. Rafters are nailed to the plate. Tank is clean gas and lead free and ready for hot work. The first common rafter attaches to the end of the ridge.
Doorsheet is a minimum of 8 high x 8 6 wide. They are 90 degrees to the ridge and to the other king common. In finding this location we do not count the additional length of the rafter that supports the roof eaves overhang or soffit. I plan to have 2 10 joists so there will be a second floor.
By upper third here we mean one third of the length of the rafter from ridge to top plate. Like framing a hip roof framing a cone or in this case a half cone begins with three common rafters. Rafters rafters make up the main framework of all roofs. Fabricate install new supported cone roof the screening estimates are based upon the following assumptions.
They vary in size depending on length and spacing. So this table could accommodate a house with a total rafter span or house width of 32 feet. The purlins are supported by vertical or slightly angled bracing. They are inclined members spaced from 16 to 48 inches apart.
Rafters rest on the top wall plate. The tops of inclined rafters are fastened to the ridge or another rafter depending on the type of roof. The spans in this table are based on a maximum supported rafter span of 16 feet where the supported span is the total horizontal distance spanned by the roof rafters divided in half not the diagonal distance or the length of the rafter. A collar tie is a horizontal roof rafter compression connector that is located in the uppermost third of the span of a pair of opposed sloped or gable roof rafters.
Hi all i am new to this rafter lingo and techniques but am building a shed that is 16 x16. The braces struts or kickers should be within every 4 and should not be at a greater than a 45 degree angle towards the roof slope lower side. The system of rafters is provided to support the roof plate. I plan to support the ridge beam with support beam in the middle and the ends.
Good access exists to tank for equipment and materials. Then the other two king commons support the ridge from the sides. No hours are included for a dedicated fire safety watch.
